A Cranberry man is in the Butler County Prison after an assault sent two people to the hospital.
On Sunday, police were called to an apartment on the 5000 block of Pendleton Way in Cranberry for a man actively attacking people.
The suspect 35-year-old Derek Cowan was being held down by two bystanders when officers got on scene.
The incident started when Cowan got into a fight with his parents, including knocking his mother to the ground.
Both Cowan’s mother and father had to go to UPMC Passavant for their injuries.
Cowan has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of simple assault, and harassment. Bail was set at $125,000 and a preliminary hearing has been set for March 20.
