A man is now facing aggravated assault charges after he allegedly hit a police officer after being pulled over.
Police pulled over 29-year-old Logan Maher of Butler Monday night around 9 p.m. on Route 228 in Adams Township for allegedly driving under the influence.
During the stop, police say Maher was argumentative and pulled his arms away while officers tried to take him into custody.
Police took Maher to the hospital for medical care. Once he was cleared, Maher allegedly kicked an officer and knocked another to the ground as he was attempting to escape custody.
He was eventually apprehended and taken to the prison to await a February 25 preliminary hearing.
Maher was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, escape, two counts of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, a DUI, and several other driving offenses.
He’s being held on $25,000 bond.
