A Butler man is facing charges for illegally possessing a gun after an attempted burglary in Butler.
On Thursday police were called to a home on the 400 block of West Brady Street for a reported break in. When police arrived on scene the caller stated an unknown induvial later identified as 66-year-old Oscar Jackson, was in the home illegally.
When officers knocked on the door Jackson opened it and said he was allowed to be in the home. Officers then checked Jackson for a weapon and nothing was found but the woman located in the home with him had a warrant out for her arrest.
As officers were arresting a woman a towel was seen covering a gun in the home. The officers then placed Jackson under arrest and charged him with possession of a fire arm prohibited and possession of a firearm with the manufacturer number altered.
Jackson is being held on $50,000 bail as he awaits a preliminary hearing.
