A Butler man interviewed by homeland security after the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump then made several threatening social media posts was sentenced this week.
In January, police charged 37-year-old David Stewart with two counts of terroristic threats after threatening several federal officials on social media.
On Thursday, Stewart pled guilty to misdemeanor terroristic threats and was sentenced to 4 to 23 months and 15 days in prison and 24 months of probation. Stewart has nearly four months worth of time served but will not be paroled until he has a housing plan upon his release.
Stewart will also have to pay $1,712 in fines, fees, and restitution.
