A Beaver County man has been sentenced after being found responsible for a 2015 trench collapse that killed a man in Butler County.
The Department of Justice announced that Wayne George will receive two years of probation for willfully violating an OSHA regulation causing death of an employee.
George was part owner of A Rooter Man of Pittsburgh and responsible for all trench work in September of 2015 when he and other employees were replacing a sewer line at Shelbourne Personal Care Home in Penn Township. George dug an 11 foot deep trench with a backhoe with no cave-in protection. 21-year-old Jacob Casher was killed instantly when the trench collapsed.
George was also assessed an $87,000 penalty for willful and serious violations following an OSHA investigation.
