Marcia Thompson, 66, originally of Sharon, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, leaving behind a life centered around family, creativity, and the things she enjoyed.
Born on September 19, 1959, to the late Reginald and Josephine Vernon, and raised in Sharon, Marcia had a creative spirit and enjoyed making crafts, drawing, and singing. She also played the violin in her high school orchestra and loved listening to the Carpenters.
Marcia worked in a variety of roles throughout her life, including at Kaufmann’s at the makeup counter, First National Bank, and as an Avon representative. She later spent many years at the Hermitage Wine and Spirits Store, where she retired.
She was a three-time breast cancer survivor, showing strength and resilience throughout her life. In addition to her work, she spent much of her time caring for others, especially older family members and those in need, offering support in quiet and meaningful ways.
She had a deep love for animals, especially her cats, and found joy in shopping and anything that sparkled. Most of all, she loved her children. She recently moved to Butler, Pennsylvania, to be closer to her son. In August 2024, she experienced the loss of her husband, Bradley, after 39 years of marriage—a loss that was deeply felt.
Marcia is survived by her children, Hallie Thompson (Tom Houpt) of Pittsboro, NC, and Colin Thompson (Ashley Glover) of Butler, PA; her brother, David Vernon (Terry Vernon) of Siler City, NC; and her sister, Roberta Vernon of Harrisburg, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bradley Thompson of Sharon, Pennsylvania; her parents, Josephine and Reginald Vernon of Sharon, Pennsylvania; and her sister, Kathleen Vernon of Malvern, Pennsylvania.
Her family will carry her memory forward in the everyday moments she loved.
