Margaret “Marge” Gillman, 94 of Butler died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 7th, 2023. For the past ten years she has been living at Concordia at the Orchard in Center Township.
Born December 10, 1928, she was the youngest of nine children born to Anthony and Tillie Staryat. Marge graduated from Butler High School.
She married her beloved husband, Clarence “Red” Gillman on October 8th, 1955 at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church. And for many years she and Red attended St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church in Center Township. Red passed away on November 23, 2011.
Marge retired as a teaching technician from the Clarence Brown School in 1983 when she and Red relocated to Lima, Ohio so that he could work as a production supervisor at the General Dynamics Abrams tank plant until he retired in 1989.
Following retirement, Marge was active in Meals on Wheels, and was honored as the charitable women of the year in Lima, Ohio for her work with Young Mothers.
Marge is survived by her only son, Kyle Gillman and his wife Brette of Fox Chapel; three grandchildren, Tate Beaudouin and her husband Kyle of Boston; Grant Gillman of Pittsburgh; and Tucker Gillman of New York City.
A Liturgy was held at Saint Michael Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Lyndora on Saturday, May 13, with Father Douglas Lorance presiding, and funeral arrangements were made through Spencer D. Geibel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 140 New Castle Rd. Butler, Pa 16001, www.spencerdgeibel.com. She has been buried at Butler County Memorial Park.
