The Mars Area School Board continues to consider options for an expansion project at their elementary school.
At their meeting last week, board members heard from a representative of the design and architectural firm concerning the exterior design of the $24 million 53,000 square foot addition.
This three story expansion includes kindergarten on the main floor connecting to the current building that houses second and third grades, first grade with a new cafeteria and kitchen on the ground floor, and more first grade classrooms on a lower level.
According to Superintendent Dr. Mark Gross, board members asked to see pictures of brickwork in place of proposed paneling and that revised plan is expected to be presented next month.
Construction is scheduled to begin this May and continue through the summer of 2026.
