Thursday is Children’s Grief Awareness Day and a local school district is raising awareness of the occasion.
Students, teachers, and staff members in the Mars Area School District are being asked to wear the color blue to show support for students dealing with loss.
Mars Area Elementary students have been reading a book about processing grief and making paper butterflies for a memory wall. Other students will participate in a Caring Place grief poster contest as part of art class.
The purpose of this day is to bring attention to the unique needs of children who are grieving because of the loss of a parent, sibling, or close family member. For more information on this observance, visit the Children’s Grief Awareness Day website.
