Anyone interested in learning more about a local landmark are invited out to McConnels Mill State Park throughout the upcoming months.
The 19th century gristmill was opened for the season back on May 18th. The mill is open to the public every Wednesday through Sunday from 10:30am until 3:30pm through Labor Day. The mill is also open during summer holidays, and admission is free.
Interpretive tours of the historic mill are given by staff or volunteer docents daily at 1pm and 2pm, as well as by request.
After Labor Day, the mill will be open Thursdays through Sundays through October.
Parking is available at the Kildoo Piicnic Area, and participants can hike down the stone stairs to the mill. Limited parking for visitors with disabilities may be available beside the mill.
Interpretive tours for groups may be scheduled by calling the Moraine Park office at 724-368-8811.
