The Pennsylvania Department of Health has announced that measles cases have reached over 500 in the Commonwealth.
As of Monday, there have been an additional 43 confirmed cases and bring the total to 540 and hospitalizations at 91.
The disease is now in 36 counties in the state. Health officials urge those who are unvaccinated to get the vaccine, that is 97 percent effective at preventing contracting measles.
The DOH has also announced that on August 17, someone infected with the disease was located at the New Stanton rest stop on the turnpike.
Everyone who stopped at the rest stop should seek immediate testing.
