Butler County native Michael Crowley has been named as the new host of the WISR Morning Show.
Crowley, 24, has been with the Butler Radio Network for seven years, beginning his career as a weekend news anchor.
Crowley is also the host of the Stax O’ Wax Show, which airs every Friday starting at 3 p.m. on WISR.
“It’s a true honor to be named the next host of the WISR Morning Show. I’ve listened to WISR since middle school and I am looking forward to carrying on the tradition of waking up with Butler residents.”
Crowley also acknowledges a major influence in Dave Malarkey, who recently announced his retirement from WISR.
“I fondly remember many mornings spent growing up with Dave on my radio. He is someone who I’ve looked up to professionally and I am honored to be continuing his legacy.”
A longtime lover of radio, his connection to the industry began at his home in Mars where he ran a radio station out of his garage.
“I still take a transistor radio with me wherever I go. I think there’s something special about radio and its ability to intimately connect with listeners, especially local radio,” Crowley said.
During his time with the Butler Radio Network, Crowley also serves as the mid-day voice on WBUT 1050 AM and 97.3 FM, along with performing engineering duties.
Crowley is a graduate of Mars Area High School and earned his bachelor of arts in Entrepreneurship from Grove City College.
Crowley will officially take over as morning show host on March 30.
