Butler County will now have naloxone boxes inside the courthouse and government center.
The boxes will be placed throughout the building in an effort to provide easier access to overdose reversal medication Narcan.
Donna Jenereski is with the county’s Drug and Alcohol Prevention team.
“We just thought it would be great to put these up and to have the Narcan available so anyone coming into court, probation, or CYS can have access to it,” Jenereski said. “If they need it, they can take it.”
The kits contain Narcan, along with masks and gloves.
Jenereski says the kits are free and available to the general public who come into the government center or courthouse.
The kits are being funded through the state’s opioid recovery fund.
