The Knoch School Board will not increase taxes as part of the budget for the 2025-26 school year.
During the Wednesday night school board meeting, board members approved a final budget of nearly $43 million which includes about $3 million being used from the general fund for the ongoing high school construction project.
District administrators say there will be an anticipated deficit of nearly $740,000 to be balanced using the general fund. There will also be a decrease in salaries of over $500,000 partially realized by only filling four of 12 teacher retirements and partly by “right-sizing” classes to optimize the student to teacher ratio.
Board member Rebecca Boyd credited administrators for careful financial management that has resulted in Knoch not increasing their tax millage since 2017.
