Court documents have provided more information on how a man died from a self-inflicted gunshot after police surrounded a Center Township home yesterday afternoon serving a warrant.
State police say they were called to a home in the 100 block of Sunflower Road yesterday to serve a Delaware County warrant for theft by unlawful taking to a 77-year-old Butler man.
When police got to the home, the man asked to use the bathroom in the home before being taken into custody. When he returned, officer say he presented a gun and said he “did not want to hurt (the officer).”
The officer in the home was able to escape but then heard a single gunshot from inside the home.
When police made it inside the home, the man was found dead due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
