The Pennsylvania Game Commission is considering allowing deer hunters to start the firearms hunting season on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, instead of waiting until Monday.
At a meeting in Harrisburg on Tuesday, the commission gave preliminary approval to a regular firearms season for antlered deer that starts on Saturday, Nov. 30 this year. It would be the first time in decades the season didn’t begin on the Monday after Thanksgiving.
The commission says it’s considering the change “in an attempt to stay current with changing hunting demographics, the needs of our license buyers, and to create more opportunities for our hunters.”
