Patricia J. Jelkovac, 83, of Butler, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025, in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 24, 1941, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Edward Nichter and Antoinette Glaser Nichter.
She attended St. Peter School, now Butler Catholic School, before graduating from Butler High School in 1959.
She retired from The West Agency, where she worked for her entire career.
Patty was a loving mother who always enjoyed hosting dinners and holidays. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends. She was funny, and she enjoyed singing to all kinds of music, especially the music of George Jones. In earlier years, she crocheted, went on casino trips, and attended auctions and garage sales.
She was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. She belonged to American Legion Auxiliary Unit 778 of Lyndora, and she was a life member of the Slovak Sokol Society in Lyndora.
Patty was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Hasychak and her husband, Mike, her companion, Michael Parison, Sr., and daughter-in-law Lori Vavro, all of Butler; her grandson Mathieu Vavro and his wife, Grace, of Pittsburgh; and a stepdaughter, Sandra Jelkovac, of Philadelphia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Jelkovac, who passed away in 1998; her son, J. Randall Vavro; one brother, Leonard Nichter; and one sister, Mary “Mame” Curry.
The family thanks the staff of Quality Life Services, Sugarcreek, for their wonderful care and compassion.
A Blessing Service will be held at Martin Funeral Home, Downtown, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, on Monday, June 30, at 11 a.m., with Rev. John J. Baver officiating.
Visitation will immediately follow at the funeral home until 1 p.m.
Burial will be private.
