The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Seattle Kraken 6-3 last night in the opening game of a four-game road trip. Brett Kulak scored his first goal as a Penguin in the second period. The goal ended up becoming the game-winner. He is the 26th Penguins player to score a goal this season, most in the NHL. Kulak was part of the trade with Edmonton that brought Stuart Skinner to Pittsburgh, in exchange for Tristan Jarry.
Fourth-line winger Connor Dewar scored two goals, one unassisted in the first period. He also collected an empty-net goal in the game’s final :30 seconds.
The Penguins are now three points ahead of Philadelphia and Washington for third place in the Metropolitan Division, and are two points behind the second-place New York Islanders with a game in-hand.
The Penguins visit the Calgary Flames tomorrow night. Face-off is 9:30pm.
Sidney Crosby skated in his 1,400th career NHL game last night. He had two assists. His 1,742 points in that span of games is second only to Wayne Gretzky.
