The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Boston Bruins 5-4 in overtime Sunday evening. Tommy Novak scored the game-winner just 17 seconds into the overtime period, as the Penguins completed a comeback after being down 3-0 more than mid-way through the second period of the game. Anthony Mantha scored twice in the third period, including the game-tying goal with under 10 minutes remaining in regulation.
Last night’s win boosted the Penguins back into second place in the Metropolitan Division, one point in front of the New York Islanders.
The Pens fell in another “shoot-out” Saturday, when they lost to Philadelphia 4-3. The Pens are now 1-9 in shoot-outs this season.
The Pens played the weekend games without Evgeni Malkin, who began a five-game NHL suspension Saturday. Justin Brazeau also missed Sunday’s game with an “upper-body” injury.
