The Pittsburgh Pirates have not even played a regular-season game this year – but Major League Baseball unveiled the schedule for 2021. The Bucs will begin the season on the road against the Chicago Cubs next April 1st. Their home opener will be the following Thursday, also against the Cubs.
It is the fifth consecutive year the Pirates will start their season away from PNC Park, but the first time since 2011 they will open their year in Chicago.
The Pirates will face American League opponents from the Central Division. They are scheduled to play against all of the A.L. Central teams in the virus-shortened 60-game schedule this year, which begins July 24th.
