The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-0 Sunday afternoon at PNC Park. Paul Skenes earned his sixth win of the season, throwing six scoreless innings and striking out nine. He allowed just three hits and walked one batter. Skenes lowered his league-leading ERA to 1.83. He is now 6-8 this season.
Oneil Cruz and Ke’Bryan Hayes drove in two runs each. Cruz and Tommy Pham had two hits each.
After being swept by the Chicago White Sox last weekend, the Pirates swept the Detroit Tigers and then took two of three games from Arizona. The Bucs defeated the Diamondbacks 2-0 Saturday behind five shutout innings from Andrew Heaney and five relievers. They lost 1-0 to Arizona in 11-inning Friday night. Rookie Mike Burrows tossed six shutout innings in that game.
The Pirates being a six-game road trip tonight in San Francisco. First pitch is 9:45pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 9:15pm. Mitch Keller will start for the Pirates.
The Bucs have three games against the Giants and then visit Colorado for three games. The Pirates are now 44-62 this season.
