The Washington Nationals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 13-0 last night in the opening game of a four-game series at PNC Park. Pirates starting pitcher Trevor Williams allowed eight runs, six of them earned in just two innings of work. He allowed three home runs as the Bucs fell behind 8-0 by the second inning. Williams has now allowed 20 earned runs over his past four starts.
The Bucs and Nationals play again tonight at 7:05pm. WISR pre-game is 6:40pm. Chris Archer will start for the Pirates (3-9, 5.29 ERA). Stephen Strasburg will start for the Nationals (15-5, 3.82 ERA).
The Pirates are now 7-27 since the All-Star break.
