The Pittsburgh Pirates completed a three-game series sweep of the Colorado Rockies Sunday with a 5-0 victory. Paul Skenes pitched seven shutout innings. He allowed three hits, did not walk a batter and struck out seven to earn his eighth victory of the season. Skenes lowered his National League-leading ERA to 2.07.
Shortstop Jared Triolo remained hot, hitting a three-run home run in the 4th inning with two outs. He had two hits in the game and stole a base.
The Pirates had defeated the Rockies 5-1 Saturday and 9-0 Friday night. They begin a seven-game road trip tonight with first of four games in St. Louis. First pitch is 7:45pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:20pm.
Johan Oviedo will start for the Bucs, who are 18-44 in road games this season. (They are 39-30 at PNC Park). The Cardinals have lost five games in a row at home. They are 5-1/2 games out of a National League Wild Card spot.
