The Pirates won in walk-off fashion after a thrilling 13-12 win last night against the San Francisco Giants. The Pirates entered the bottom of the 3rd trailing 5-2, but put up 9 runs in the inning.
But, the bullpen would go on to let up 5 runs in the 8th inning tying the game at 12-12.
In the bottom of the 9th, a Rafael Flores groundball appeared to have the game going to extra innings, but a wild throw gave the Pirates the win.
Paul Skenes went 4.2 innings, allowing five runs, five hits, and striking out five. Mason Montgomery got the win for the Bucs.
Oneil Cruz led the Pirates with four hits and four RBIs. Brandon Lowe hit his 29th home run of the season.
The Pirates did cut into their wild card deficit to five following a San Diego Padres loss.
