In their last home game of the 2025 season, the Pirates offense exploded as they shutout the Athletics 11-0. Jared Triolo and Joey Bart both recorded four hits and home runs in the game for the Bucs.
Mike Burrows and Carmen Mlodzinski threw a combined seven innings to start the game. It was the 19th shutout of the season for the Bucs, which leads Major League Baseball.
The Pirates are off today and will head to Cincinnati, where they will take on the Reds. Currently the Reds have the final spot in the NL Wild Card race, with the New York Mets losing the tiebreaker. The Arizona Diamondbacks are also one game out with a week left in the season.
The American League Wild Card race sees the Cleveland Guardians holding onto the final spot—although they are also now one game out of the lead in the AL Central.
