Law enforcement has released updated information about the apparent murder-suicide that included both Butler County and Illinois.
According to State Police, 67-year-old AC Byrd Jr called the Hillside Police Department in Illinois Tuesday saying that two women were dead at a home in Zelienople. When police went to Byrd’s location, they found him dead as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot.
Illinois police then contacted Jackson Township Police, who did a welfare check at Byrd’s home on Dior Drive. Upon forced entry, they found 63-year-old Amy Byrd and 19-year-old Lanaya Lewis dead from gunshot wounds. Police say these two women were related to Byrd.
State police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding these deaths.

According to State Police, a man called the Hillside Police Department in Illinois yesterday saying that two women were dead at a home in Zelienople. When police went to the man’s location, they found him dead as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot.
Illinois police contacted Jackson Township Police, who did a welfare check at the man’s home on Dior Drive. Upon forced entry, they found two women who died from gunshot wounds.
Police believe that the two women are family members of the man who killed himself in Illinois, but have not yet released their identities.
This is an ongoing investigation but police say there is not any ongoing danger to the public.
