Police in Armstrong County are searching for people who starved, abandoned, and shot a dog in Kittanning.
The incident happened on August 3rd on a dirt road in Troy Hill, when a man saw a black-and-white pit bull that was very skinny. He fed the dog, named Rico, but had to leave because he had other animals with him.
The man returned about a half hour later around 9:15 p.m. with his niece when they found Rico had been shot in the head twice.
He was still alive, so the man called police. Officers took Rico to an emergency vet hospital. However, an exam showed that the injuries were so severe, Rico had to be euthanized.
Anyone with information about who was responsible for Rico’s condition are asked to call the Humane Officer at 724-316-7691.
