State Police and PennDOT are reminding drivers they will soon have to pay a fine if caught with a phone in their hand while driving.
In 2024, Paul Miller’s Law was signed which prohibited the use of hand-held devices while driving or face a $50 fine.
This also applies to when drivers are stopped at a traffic light.
Fines will begin going out on June 5 and drivers fined risk further court costs and fees.
According to PennDOT in 2024, there were nearly 10,000 crashed that involved a districted driver that say over 6,000 injuries and nearly 50 deaths.
