It’s been a summer of storms and severe weather, and the region has set another record.
The National Weather Service says the Pittsburgh area has had 30 tornadoes this year. That’s the most ever in recorded history.
The previous record was 29, which was set in 2024.
The number of tornadoes is much higher than the average, which is usually around 10 per year.
In Butler County, there have been five confirmed tornadoes this year.
