Regis James (Jim) Bowman, Jr., age 85, passed away Thurs., May 20, 2021 at Chicora Medical Center.
Born in Butler, he was a son of the late Regis J. Bowman, Sr. and Mary Paycheck Bowman.
Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a teacher in schools from New York to Florida.
He was married for 52 years to Joan Bodner Bowman. Joan passed away March 1, 2019, and she’s waiting for Jim above.
Jim and Joan both retired from teaching. They enjoyed traveling and show business and they performed in many Off-Broadway theater productions in New York and Virginia that they both directed and produced. When they planted their roots they decided to live in Natural Bridge Station, Virginia, and, with other fellow actors, started Bacchus Productions, presenting performances both on radio and in theater in the Rockbridge County area.
Jim is survived by his brother John (Jack) Bowman and his wife Susan, of Butler; one nephew, Greg Bowman and his wife, Donna; and one niece, Carmen Bowman.
There will be no public visitation. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
