A local lawmaker is among those sponsoring legislation that would help more Americans prepare for a secure retirement.
The Secure a Strong Retirement Act of 2021 co-authored by Republican U.S. Congressman Mike Kelly of Butler has been approved by the House Committee on Ways and Means.
This bill has previsions to expand auto-enrollment in retirement plans, offer tax credits for startups that match employee contributions, allow some non-profits to participate in pooled retirement plans, and limit penalties concerning minimum distributions or other transactions.
This bill will now move on to consideration by the full U.S. House of Representatives.
