Richard Ordy, 83, of Butler, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Newhaven Court at Clearview.
Richard, lovingly known as “Pooch” to family and close friends, was born on December 1, 1939, in Butler, PA, to his late parents, Jack Ordy and Ann (Grinnik) Ordy.
Following his graduation from Butler High School, he proudly served his county in the United States Marine Corps. Upon his discharge, Pooch worked for ARMCO Steel until his retirement.
Pooch was a kindhearted, devoted and steadfast man who found joy in playing sports and spending time with his family. He was a talented softball player and bowler who won various awards for his accomplishments in the American Bowling Congress. Pooch was a lifelong active member of St. Conrad Parish. Richard lived a full and happy life with his late wife of 57 years, Patricia Ordy, until her passing on September 28, 2020.
He is survived by his four children, Michael Ordy, Michelle and her husband Gregory Klann, Stacie and her husband Richard Ridilla, and Marianne Ordy; his siblings, Pat “Mickey” Potyka and her husband, Sonny, Barbara “Babe” Brown and her husband, Tom, Robert “Bobby” Ordy and his wife, Sharon, Julie Moreland, Marvin Ordy and his wife, Diana, and Ron Ordy and his wife, Kim; six grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Patricia, Pooch was preceded in death by his siblings Jack “Bo” Ordy and Jean “Chicky” Laskey.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 4-8PM at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 10:00 AM from All Saints Parish, Saint Conrad Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Rd., Butler, PA 16001 with Father John Baver officiating. Full military honors will follow with Officers and Members of the American Legion Post #117, American Legion Post #778 and the VFW Post #249.
Inurnment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Richard’s honor to the American Heart Association.
