With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of Sandra “Sandy” Kay (Jewell) Glover, who passed away surrounded by her family on May 27, 2026 at the age of 70.
Sandy was born on February 14, 1956, in Butler, Pennsylvania, to the late Shirley (Cunningham) and Donald Jewell. She graduated from Butler Area High School in 1974 and went on to build a life centered around hard work, compassion, family, and faith.
Throughout her life, Sandy wore many hats (and answered many phones). She was the co-owner and co-founder of DBS Telecommunications in 1986, worked as a bookkeeper for many local businesses, and later owned her own dog grooming and pet-sitting business. No matter what role she held, she poured herself fully into it. Sandy had a deep compassion for animals, especially dogs and cats, and found genuine joy in caring for them throughout her life. To her, pets were family, and she lovingly opened her heart and home to many animals over the years.
Sandy was baptized at St. Marks Lutheran Church and remained strong in her Christian faith throughout her life. After receiving her cancer diagnosis in 2024, her strength and determination never wavered. She fought hard through every step of her illness. While cancer succeeded in taking her physical body, it never touched her spirit, her faith, or the love she carried for others. Her faith carried her peacefully into eternal life.
Throughout her life, Sandy formed many close friendships with people who became like family to her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was known for her incredibly selfless and giving heart, her willingness to help those in need, and the way she showed love through actions rather than words. She was determined, driven, and held herself to high standards in everything she did. That drive for excellence shone through in her professional and personal life, and especially in her role as a mother.
Above all else, Sandy’s greatest joy in life was the birth, raising, and unconditional love she poured into her daughter, Ashley. Ashley was not only her daughter, but also her very best friend. Their bond was built on unwavering love and the comfort of always knowing they had one another.
Sandy found joy in caring for her yard, landscaping, and tending to her plants. She also loved taking cruises filled with sunshine, sand, and relaxing by the water. Known for her love of sweets, Sandy lived by one favorite restaurant rule: “Always order and eat dessert first, because they could run out of the good stuff.” Ashley will forever miss her mom’s homemade cheesecake lovingly baked for her each birthday.
She is survived by her daughter Ashley Glover (Colin Thompson), her forever sister, Linda (James) Thompson; her husband and devoted cancer caregiver, James Raimondi; Ashley’s father, Edward Glover; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Floyd and Dorothy Cunningham, who selflessly raised both Sandy and her sister, Linda.
The family would also like to acknowledge the devoted care provided by Sandy’s medical team throughout her diagnosis and treatment. The Butler VNA, the AHN-Wexford medical, palliative care, and hospice team of 5-North, who treated her with dignity, compassion, and kindness until she entered eternal life.
Family and Friends will be received on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 5-7 PM at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler PA., 16001.
A Memorial Service and burial will be at the West Sunbury Union Cemetery on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 4:00 PM with Pastor Brady Randall – Orchard Hill Church- Officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Stray Cat Sanctuary. Their mission of giving abandoned and homeless cats a second chance at love and safety reflects the compassion Sandy showed to animals throughout her life. She never turned away an animal in need and opened her heart and home to countless pets over her years.
