Starting pitcher Braxton Ashcraft tossed 5 innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 6. Pirates’ top pitching prospect Bubba Chandler made his debut, becoming the first pitcher in MLB history to record a 4-inning shutout save in his debut.
Andrew McCutchen had 2 doubles and drove in 4 runs, leading the offense which also featured home-runs from Tommy Pham, Spencer Horwitz, and Alexander Canario.
The Pirates and Rockies play again today at 6:40 PM. WISR pre-game begins at 6:15 PM.
