Several local schools will be receiving funding from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to help improve safety.
The School Safety and Security Committee has designated awards of over $406,000 for Seneca Valley School District as well as nearly $356,000 for Butler Area School District for addressing security gaps and improving mental health resources.
State Representatives Aaron Bernstine and Marci Mustello say Mars Area School District will receive $250,000, Slippery Rock Area, Knoch, and Freeport School Districts will each collect about $180,000, with Karns City and Moniteau School Districts around $150,000.
The PCCD’s School Safety and Security Committee oversees programs designed to improve school safety and security, strengthen behavioral health supports, and provide training and technical assistance to schools across Pennsylvania.
