A former Republican candidate for governor has introduced a bill that attempts to rewrite how education is funded in Pennsylvania.
State Senator Doug Mastriano has introduced The Educational Freedom for Families Act.
The proposed bill would provide school vouchers, expand charter schools, additional resources for cyber schools, a teacher incentive program based off PSSA, SAT, and ACT scores, and more.
According to the bill’s memo, the legislation will “enhance educational opportunities for all students, regardless of income or geographic location. By expanding various flexible school options.”
The bill will now head to the senate education committee which has Mastriano as a majority member.
