Traffic was slow moving for hours on I-79 in Butler County after a steer got loose on the highway Wednesday morning.
Several calls started coming into the Butler County 911 Center around 7 a.m. for a cow that was in the median of I-79 in between the Evans City and Cranberry exits.
Police and PennDOT crews responded to help control traffic, but it led to slow downs for hours in both directions.
A man on horseback eventually was able to lasso the cow and temporarily take it to a nearby farm.
It’s still not known how the cow got loose or who is the owner.
