The Secretary of Education is mandating that a recently fired principal in the Slippery Rock School District return to her job.
Dr. Kristie Shulsky was let go from her position as the Moraine Elementary School principal in January of this year after allegations she was intoxicated on the job.
According to Shulsky’s attorney, those rumors were “totally untrue.” The case was presented to the Secretary of Education, who agreed and issued an order that Shulsky be reinstated as school principal.
District Superintendent Dr. Angelo Angelucci said in a statement “the district is disappointed in the decision and will be considering its options and next steps.” He declined to comment further, citing personnel matters.
The district could appeal the decision to the Commonwealth Court.
Shawn Zappia was hired as the new Moraine Elementary Principal in April and officially took over the position on July 1st.
