A new report shows that traffic-related deaths on highways in Pennsylvania are down to begin the year.
The study from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration shows that 242 people died in vehicle crashes in the state from January to March this year—which is down 1.6 percent from last year.
In 2023, Pennsylvania was an outlier compared to other states that saw the number of fatalities drop. Preliminary data shows that 1,229 people died in crashes in the state last year, which was up over 4 percent compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the national average dropped by 3.6 percent.
