A couple of local men have been charged, including one man charged with attempted homicide, after an incident with a gun at Father Marinaro Park over the weekend.
According to Butler City Police, Sunday night around 6:30, officers were called to the 100 block of Zeigler Avenue for a conflict that began with a minor vehicle crash.
When police arrived on scene, they spoke with a group of victims who said that 42-year-old Michael Miranda and 18-year-old Joseph Miranda, both of Butler, got into a fight following the accident.
According to charging documents, video footage from the scene taken by the victim, shows Alex approaching the victims while carrying a large knife, that was later found on scene. Michael then goes back to his vehicle and takes out a shotgun. The video is alleged to then show Michael pointing the gun at the victim and firing, the shot nearly hit the victim.
Three more victims then fled from the scene after the gun shot.
It’s alleged that Michael can be heard in the video saying “I will kill [you} where you stand” and “I will shoot you.” During a search of Michael’s vehicle, the victim’s car keys were found.
There were no injuries and an investigation is ongoing, but both men were taken into custody at their home without any issue. The knife and firearm were recovered.
Both men were charged with felony aggravated assault and Michael was also charged with criminal attempted homicide. They are both being held in the Butler County Prison as they await preliminary hearings.
