The first accident occurred when a car driven by 28-year old Matthew Schantz of Vandergrift was south bound on North Pike Road in Jefferson Twp. when it crashed yesterday afternoon a little after 4 p.m. Schantz crashed when he failed to negotiate a slight left hand curve, lost control and struck the tree where his vehicle came to rest. Saxonburg EMS and fire department were called to the scene. Schantz later took himself to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
The second accident occurred a little after 10:30 pm last night. 41-year old Matthew Wilson of Grove City crashed his car into a tree on Grove City Road in Mercer Twp. Butler County. Wilson was driving north on Grove City Road where he lost control of his vehicle and struck the tree located on the right side of the roadway. Wilson was flown to St Elizabeth hospital for suspected serious injuries. Butler State Police suspect Wilson being under the influence of an unknown substance which may have played a part in the crash.
