Pennsylvania is another step closer to having an official state spirit.
The bill designates rye whiskey as the state’s signature spirit.
Advocates of the bill say the Keystone State led the country in whiskey production from the 18th century through the 1840s. Rye was the primary grain used in making those whiskeys.
The bill has advanced out of committee and now moves to the full Senate.
