Butler Memorial Hospital is now officially a part of the West Virginia University Health System.
The announcement was made this morning that the hospital and all of its affiliates will now be operating under the WVU Medicine brand immediately.
This is the final part of the process that saw Independence Health System merge with WVU Medicine.
All of the Independence hospitals and facilities will now operate under the WVU umbrella. That includes Clarion Hospital, Frick Hospital, Latrobe Hospital, and Westmoreland Hospital.
“This marks an exciting and important moment for these hospitals and the communities they serve as they join our network of care across the region,” Albert L. Wright, Jr., president and CEO of the WVU Health System, said in a statement.
WVU Medicine officials say they are committing $800 million over the next five years to upgrades to their hospitals, including updates to Butler Memorial Hospital’s emergency room.
