Gas prices declined slightly both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by two cents over the past week to settle at $5.03 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also dropped by two cents during that same time to arrive at $5.01. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Altoona at $4.97, while the most expensive is $5.04 in Mercer.
The average national gas price decreased by a nickel over the past week to reach $4.96 which is still 37 cents more than a month ago. According to AAA, the small decline at the pump was caused by a $12 drop in the price for a barrel of crude oil along with a dip in gasoline demand.
