Pennsylvania senators voted along party lines as the U.S. Senate passed the Inflation Reduction Act.
Only Democrats voted in favor of the estimated $730 billion bill that they say will help fight climate change, cut pharmaceutical costs, and place taxes on billion dollar companies.
Democrat Bob Casey said the bill will “lower prescription drug and health care costs and create clean energy jobs, while reducing the deficit.”
Republican Senator Pat Toomey however voted against the bill arguing, “the last thing Americans need are more corporate welfare, higher taxes, and more government spending.”
The U.S. House is expected to vote on the bill this week.
