Last night Summit Elementary was awarded the Partnership in Agriculture Literacy Award through The National Agriculture in the Classroom Organization (NAITCO).
The Community Agriculture Partnership at Summit (CAPS) was awarded for their innovative effort to use an agricultural focus to expand student learning and meet the needs of the whole child.
School principle Chad Broman said the success behind CAPS has been in large part due to teachers buying in to further educating students.
“What makes me proud is that we have made this a collative effort and the teachers have bought into It and they are putting extra hours in extra planning using some of those skills that teachers really want to be able to use and being creative,” said Broman. “They’re able to use those and seeing student’s get the knowledge that we want them to have through a different means then we ever thought possible before we started this program.”
CAPS will be honored at the 2023 NAITCO Conference taking place in June in Orlando, Florida.
