First responders had a busy morning attending to six accidents due to the snow across the area.
A rollover accident on Route 422 eastbound near Duffy Road caused delays and required a driver to be extricated from a vehicle.
There was also an accident on Route 19 this morning but no injuries were reported.
PennDOT had been watching the weather the past few days in preparation of the snow storms. According to PennDOT Butler District Maintenance Manager, Mike Mattis, crews were preparing for the this snow up until Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
“We were watching the weather the past couple days making sure we had everything ready and we were working on our equipment,” said Mattis. “My assistant manager was out monitoring the road last night making calls, seeing if we needed to be out but we were on top of what needed to be done and watching the weather to see what was coming in.”
Drivers are encouraged to cut driving speeds during heavy snow and cut speeds to a crawl when roads are icy. For more information on road conditions you can go to 511PA.com.
