Mary Anne Ekin, 85, of Butler, passed away Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, at UPMC Passavant.
Born June 10, 1940, in Clairton, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Robert Medvidovich and Lube Sellan Medvidovich.
Mary Anne was employed for 35 years as a teacher and speech therapist with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, flower cultivation, and traveling with friends and family.
She is survived by one son, Gary Goepfert, Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Butler; one stepson, Dave Ekin, of Raleigh, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Terri Ekin, of Raleigh N.C.; three grandchildren, Amanda Renken and her husband, William, of Simpsonville, S.C., Hunter Ekin and his wife, Lindsey, of Raleigh, N.C., and Cody Huff and his fiancée, Tara Dight, of Butler; and six great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Liam, River, Carson, Cameron and JB; two sisters, Sally Lucarelli, of Elizabeth, Pa., and Patricia Medvidovich, of Finleyville, Pa.; and one brother-in-law, Tom Prokop, of Elizabeth, Pa.
In addition to her parents, Mary Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Ekin, who passed away in 2001; one stepson, James Ekin; and one sister, Dolores Prokop.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home South Side, 429 Center Ave., Butler, on Tuesday, Sept.9, from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
A Blessing Service will immediately follow at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Kevin C. Fazio, of All Saints Parish, officiating.
