A man is in custody following a police chase that ended with a vehicle into a house in the City of Butler last night.
The incident began just before midnight at the Sheetz near the Butler Commons shopping plaza in Butler Township.
State police found a man who appeared to be slumped over the wheel and not moving in the parking lot. When troopers knocked on the window and asked for identification, police say the driver, 21-year-old Joseph Bailie of Butler, took off.
While fleeing police, he allegedly hit a concrete pole in the parking lot and then went east onto New Castle Road.
The high-speed chase went about two miles until Bailie tried to make a right turn onto Hansen Avenue. He lost control of his car and crashed into a home near the intersection with New Castle Road, causing significant damage.
Bailie got out of the car and tried to hide inside the house, but was taken into custody by police.
He is facing numerous charges including DUI and fleeing to elude a police officer. Bailie is being held in the Butler County Prison as he awaits a preliminary arraignment.

A home was significantly damaged after a car plowed into it Monday night.
