Born September 30, 1944, in Butler, he was the son of the late Richard N. Christie and the late Edna M. (Dobson) Christie.
Don was a graduate of Butler High School and then went on to attend New Castle School of Business. He made his career at Armco / AK Steel until his retirement in 2001. Upon retirement, Don was a school bus driver for Valley Lines. He was a member of the BUCO Travel Club, and in his spare time enjoyed woodworking, camping, and traveling. Above all else, Don loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Linda I. Christie, whom he married on June 30, 2018, his daughters, Cheryl Gilliland and Michele (Ed) Bowman; his step children, Eric (Mary) Cochran, Belinda Wilker, and Christin Wilker; his grandchildren, Matthew (Michelle) Gilliland, Tyler Pesci, Kaitlyn Pesci, Adyson Bowman, Ryleigh Stahl, and Ashleigh Stahl; his great granddaughter Kenna Gilliland, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Christie, his daughter, Kimberly Christie, three brothers, and one sister.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Butler Hospital 7T for their comfort and care the last few weeks.
Friends will be received on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 4 PM until the time of the funeral service at 7 PM at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001.
He will be laid to rest in Concord Cemetery.
